Post subject:  Van Noort on Infallibility

Entire chapter now posted here:

Please, nobody is to comment on this subject until they have read this text. Nor is anybody permitted to disagree with Monsignor Van Noort unless they can quote another theologian doing so. Let's treat sacred doctrine as sacred, which is what we are supposed to do; and in so acting, we bring our intellects under the dominion of Christ the King. Isn't that what we all want?

Mr. Lane,

Thank you for this excerpt from Van Noort. It is indeed very informative and needed. I have a few questions I'm hoping you can help with.

1.) Van Noort speaks of "active" and "passive" infallibility. Active infallibility belongs to the teaching church...and passive infallibility belongs to the faithful (those being taught). Given the crisis of the church today....are we saying the church no longer has this "active infallibility"?

2.) How are we to understand the churches infallibility without a living magistarium? In other words....How is the church protected from error without an "active infallibility"?

3.) Do the Bishops (Dolan, Sanborn, McKenna..etc.) during this interregnum participate in the active infallibility of the church in any way?

I thank you for your time and work Mr. Lane, and thank you in advance for your response.

In Jesus and Mary

Post subject:  Papal infallibility

Dear Friends,

Fr. Ray Taouk of the SSPX has generously provided large chunks of the electronic text of Van Noort's Dogmatic Theology to me on CD, so I intend to re-publish it online as I get time. Tonight I have uploaded the section of Vol. II on papal infallibility, to go with the section on the infallibility of the Church. The latter should be studied before the former.

Please offer a prayer for Fr. Taouk as a reward for his magnanimity.
